What Students Need to Do
- Students write informative text that introduces a topic, supplies facts, and provides closure. The writing teaches something focused.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student names the topic, gives accurate supporting facts, and ends with a connected closing. Information remains relevant.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list unrelated facts or add personal opinion. They may stop without a sense of completion.
How to Assess It
- Give a familiar topic and picture notes. Ask students to write an introduction, two facts, and a closing sentence.
