- Students use context to confirm or correct word recognition and understanding. They reread when a word does not look right, sound right, or make sense.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student notices a mismatch, checks print and meaning, corrects the word, and rereads. The repaired sentence makes sense.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may guess from pictures or context without checking letters. They may correct a word but skip rereading.
How to Assess It
