What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students connect four New Deal programs to changes in jobs, farming, electricity, and financial security in Georgia. They explain who benefited, who was left out, and where a program caused harm.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can match the CCC, AAA, REA, and Social Security to a specific effect in Georgia and support each match with evidence. The student can explain why benefits were uneven for sharecroppers, tenant farmers, domestic workers, and farmworkers.
Common Misconceptions
- Students often treat every program as direct cash relief or assume all Georgians benefited equally. They may confuse the CCC with farm aid, think the AAA increased crop production, or assume rural homes already had electricity.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Choose two programs and write one Georgia effect for each, then name one group that benefited or was excluded. Require one cause-and-effect sentence per program.
