What Students Need to Do: Students identify major causes of river pollution, air pollution, and flooding in India and China. They explain how each issue affects health, farming, cities, ecosystems, and economies.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students can build a clear cause and effect chain using accurate examples. They can compare impacts across locations and explain how human actions can worsen or reduce each problem.
Common Misconceptions: Students may treat flooding as entirely natural and overlook dams, paved land, deforestation, and crowded floodplains. They may also assume polluted water affects only drinking or that dirty air stays near its source.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: Choose Ganges River pollution, air pollution, or flooding. Name one cause, two effects, and one action that could reduce the damage.

Lesson moves
