Common Misconceptions: Students may think the agreement creates one government or one currency for all three countries. They may also think all tariffs disappeared or that the agreement covers only trade between the United States and Mexico.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: A Canadian store imports bicycles from Mexico. Explain two ways shared trade rules could affect the store, its customers, or the bicycle seller.

Lesson moves

Give groups product cards, play money, and tariff tokens to compare trading with and without shared USMCA rules.
Ask students to write how shared trade rules could help both a Canadian shopper and a Mexican seller.
Play a matching game that pairs USMCA functions, such as lower tariffs or dispute rules, with likely effects on trade.
Have students inspect product labels at home, identify goods from the three member countries, and explain how trade rules support those purchases.
