What Students Need to Do

Students identify natural resources, human resources, capital resources, and entrepreneurship. They sort examples into each group and explain how each helps produce a good or service.

What Mastery Looks Like

A student can define all four resource types in simple words. Given a business, the student can name one accurate example of each type and explain its role.

Common Misconceptions

Students may confuse capital resources with money rather than tools, machines, and buildings. They may also label a business owner as a human resource without recognizing the owner's role in organizing resources and taking risks.

How to Assess It

Give students this prompt: “A baker opens a bakery. Name one natural, human, capital, and entrepreneurial resource the bakery needs.”

   Give groups picture cards of workers, tools, raw materials, and owners to sort under four labeled resource headings.

   Ask students to explain which resources a pizza shop needs and why each resource belongs in its chosen group.

   Play Resource Relay, where teams race to place example cards under natural, human, capital, or entrepreneurship labels.

   Have students examine a local grocery store and list one example of each productive resource used there.
