What Students Need to Do
- Students adjust how they speak and move based on who is listening and why they are presenting. They use voice, pacing, facial expressions, and gestures to make meaning clear.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students speak clearly and change their delivery to fit a story, explanation, or request. Their facial expressions, eye contact, and gestures support the message without distracting listeners.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think speaking louder always makes a presentation better. They may rush, use distracting movements, or keep the same expression for every audience.
How to Assess It
- Ask each student to deliver a 20-second playground safety reminder to first graders. Check for clear pacing, a helpful tone, and purposeful gestures.

Give pairs audience and purpose cards, then have them present the same sentence using matching voice, speed, facial expression, and gestures.
