What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students read maps, graphs, and timelines to identify where resources are found and how their use has changed. They compare how residents, workers, businesses, governments, and environmental groups view resource decisions.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students classify resources as renewable or nonrenewable and describe patterns using terms such as region, distribution, and scale. They support comparisons of Florida and other regions with evidence from geographic tools and historical sources.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think renewable resources never run out or cause environmental harm. They may confuse where a resource is located with where it is used, or assume all people in one group share the same view.
How to Assess It
- Give students a Florida resource map, a use-over-time graph, and two stakeholder quotes. Ask them to explain the differing views using one map detail and one geographic term.
