What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students create clear messages using writing, speaking, visuals, audio, or digital tools. They work with classmates to plan, divide tasks, give feedback, and revise a shared product.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students choose words, visuals, audio, and layout that make a message clearer. They share tasks, respond to feedback, and revise the final product so it feels consistent.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add images, audio, or effects that distract from the message. They may divide group work without reviewing, revising, or connecting each person’s contribution.
How to Assess It
- Give students a short paragraph and three possible visuals. Ask them to choose one, explain how it supports the message, and suggest one collaborative revision.

Ways to Teach It
Give groups chart paper, markers, and printed images to create a poster that clearly teaches one fact from a class text.
Ask students to write which image, sound, or layout choice would best emphasize a speaker’s main point and explain why.
Play Revision Relay, where teams rotate through shared slides and improve one element for clarity, accuracy, or audience appeal.
Have groups create a digital flyer for a school event, including concise details, a useful visual, and a clear call to action.
