What This Standard Means

What Students Need to Do

Students organize findings, evidence, and reasoning in a digital format that an audience can follow. They choose text, visuals, layout, and source credits that clarify their message.

What Mastery Looks Like

A student creates a focused presentation with concise text, readable visuals, and accurate source credits. The audience can easily trace each finding through the evidence and reasoning.

Common Misconceptions

Students often fill slides with paragraphs, use decorative images, or read every word aloud. They may present evidence without explaining how it supports the finding or crediting its source.

How to Assess It

Give students a claim and a short source. Ask them to create one slide with evidence, a relevant visual, a citation, and a clear reasoning statement.

Ways to Teach It

  1. Give students a cluttered slide and have them redesign it using one finding, one strong visual, and two supporting details.

  2. Compare two slides presenting the same evidence, then write which one communicates better and name three specific design choices.

  3. Run a slide-sort challenge where teams arrange mixed slides into the clearest sequence of finding, evidence, reasoning, and conclusion.

  4. Create a three-slide briefing that explains a school issue to the principal using survey results, reasoning, and a recommended action.
