What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students select accurate facts from class materials and organize them around a clear main idea. They create a poster, slide, model, map, or short report that shows what they learned. They label visuals and explain how each part connects to the topic.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student includes correct facts, relevant details, and clear labels. The finished work has a focused message, and the student can point to evidence that supports it. Sources or class materials are credited when required.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may focus on decoration instead of accurate content. They may copy facts without connecting them to a main idea. Visuals may be unlabeled, unrelated, or used without explanation.
How to Assess It
- Give students three facts and one image about a studied topic. In 10 minutes, have them make a mini-poster with a title, two accurate facts, a labeled image, and a main idea sentence.

Ways to Teach It
Give pairs five fact cards and a blank poster; they sort the facts, add headings, and create a labeled display.
Ask students to write: Which detail in your project best proves your main idea, and why?
Play Fact Fixers with sample slides; teams earn points by correcting inaccurate claims, missing labels, or unclear captions.
Have students design a museum panel about a local landmark using two reliable facts, an image, and a source note.
