What Students Need to Do: Students use devices and online spaces safely, respectfully, and responsibly. They protect personal information, ask before sharing, credit sources, and report unsafe or unkind behavior to a trusted adult.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students can identify safe and unsafe online choices and explain their reasoning. They create respectful messages, protect private details, and choose an appropriate response to cyberbullying or suspicious requests.
Common Misconceptions: Students may think deleted posts disappear forever or that usernames make them anonymous. They may share photos, passwords, school names, or locations without understanding who could see them.
How to Assess It: Ask: “A player in an online game asks Maya for her school name and photo. What should Maya do, and why?”

Lesson moves

Use a card sort: students place online actions under safe, unsafe, or ask an adult, then explain each choice.
Write a reply to a classmate who wants to post a friend's photo without asking, and explain your advice.
Play Digital Citizen Charades: act out a scenario while classmates identify the responsible response and name the rule.
Review a pretend game profile with a username, photo, school, and location, then remove details that should stay private.
