What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students turn a research question into focused keywords and adjust those words when results are weak. They gather useful information from more than one source and track where each fact came from.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students choose specific keywords, scan results, and revise a search that is not working. They gather relevant facts from different sources and record each source's title, author, and link.
Common Misconceptions
- Students often type a full question or use terms that are too broad. They may stop at the first result, use several pages from one website, or collect facts that do not answer the question.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Research whether school should start later. Write two focused search queries, then list one relevant fact from each of two different sources.
