What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students combine speech or writing with images, sound, video, charts, or other media to share information. They choose tools that make the topic clearer rather than simply adding decoration.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students create a clear presentation with readable text and relevant images, audio, or video. They can explain how each chosen element helps the audience understand the topic.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add pictures, sounds, or colors only for decoration. They may crowd slides with text, choose unrelated media, or read every word aloud.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to make one slide about a favorite animal using a title, one fact, and one helpful image. Have them explain how the image supports the fact.

Ways to Teach It
Give pairs a fact card, paper, markers, and printed images to build a poster that clearly teaches one main idea.
Show two sample slides and ask, "Which slide teaches the topic better, and what specific features make it clearer?"
Play Media Match by having students pair topic cards with images, sound clips, or charts that best support each topic.
Have students create a one-slide weather report with a map, temperature symbols, and a short spoken forecast for their community.
