What Students Need to Do
- Students name Texans who volunteered in local or state civic affairs. They describe each person’s actions and explain how those actions helped a community or Texas.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students can connect Adina de Zavala with organizing and direct action to preserve the Alamo. They can connect Clara Driscoll with advocacy and financial support for Alamo preservation.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think both women were elected officials or government workers. They may combine their contributions or assume the state alone saved the Alamo. They may also treat volunteering as only donating money.
