What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students share what they learned about people, places, rules, traditions, or past events. They use drawings, spoken words, or simple sentences and include accurate details.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students can present two accurate details using a clear drawing, oral explanation, or written response. Their work stays on topic and makes sense to another person.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may create a detailed picture that does not show what they learned. They may give an opinion or unrelated personal story instead of accurate facts.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to show two facts about a community helper using a labeled drawing, two sentences, or a 20-second oral explanation.

Ways to Teach It
Build a model neighborhood with blocks and labels, then explain how one place helps the community.
Ask which classroom rule helps everyone and why, then have students answer with a drawing, sentence, or partner talk.
Play Fact Match: students pair picture cards with fact cards, then tell a partner why each pair belongs together.
Create a mini visitor guide showing two school locations and what people do there.
