- Students use a picture dictionary or simple digital tool to locate a word they need. They connect the picture, printed word, and meaning, then use the word aloud or in writing.

- Students choose an appropriate picture dictionary or child-safe digital resource. They find a target word, identify it correctly, and use it when speaking or writing.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may look only at pictures and ignore the printed word. They may also choose a related word without checking that it names the intended object or action.
How to Assess It
- Show a picture of an unfamiliar object and provide a picture dictionary. Ask, “Find the word, point to it, and use it in a sentence.”
