What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students create uniform probability models by assigning equal probability to all outcomes. They use the model to find probabilities of simple events.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student lists all equally likely outcomes and gives each probability 1 over the outcome count. Event probabilities are found by counting favorable outcomes over all outcomes.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may assign equal probability when outcomes are not equally likely. They may use favorable outcomes as the denominator instead of the complete sample space.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to build a uniform model for a fair six-sided number cube and find the probabilities of rolling 2 and rolling an even number.
