What Students Need to Do
- Students solve unit-rate problems, including unit pricing and constant speed. They determine the amount for one unit and use it to answer related questions.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student finds a unit rate with correct units and uses it accurately. The student explains which quantity is being measured per one unit of the other.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may divide in the wrong order and attach reversed units. They may report a total rate rather than the amount for one unit.
How to Assess It
- A cyclist travels 42 miles in 3 hours. Ask students to find miles per hour and predict the distance in 5 hours.
