What Students Need to Do
- Students find every factor pair of a whole number from 1 through 100. They identify multiples and determine whether numbers are prime or composite.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student lists all factor pairs of 36 without omissions and explains why the list is complete. The student classifies a number as prime or composite using its factors.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list factor pairs twice or stop before finding all pairs. They may call 1 prime or confuse factors with multiples.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to list all factor pairs of 42, decide whether 42 is a multiple of 7, and classify 43 as prime or composite.
