What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students use drawing, dictation, oral expression, emergent writing, or a combination to narrate events in sequence. They show what happened across time.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student represents at least two ordered events and communicates who or what was involved. The sequence is understandable through pictures, speech, or writing.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may create isolated pictures without event order. They may tell one moment or change the sequence while explaining.
How to Assess It
- Give a two- or three-event picture prompt. Ask the student to narrate the sequence through drawing, speaking, dictation, or emergent writing.
