What Mastery Looks Like
- The student selects exact verbs, concrete nouns, and sensory details that sharpen a scene. Description supports action, character, or mood without overwhelming it.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add adjective lists or all five senses mechanically. They may choose dramatic words that do not fit the event or tone.
How to Assess It
- Give a bland narrative paragraph. Ask students to revise it with precise action language and two purposeful sensory details.
