What Mastery Looks Like
- A student uses specific nouns and verbs plus focused sensory language to make key moments vivid. Details remain consistent with what the narrator could notice.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may overload every sentence with adjectives or include sensory details that do not fit the narrator's position. They may substitute vague intensity words for precision.
How to Assess It
- Give the sentence, The storm was bad. Ask students to revise it from a child's viewpoint using precise verbs, concrete details, and two relevant senses.
