- Students develop informative ideas with facts, definitions, concrete details, and other relevant information. They add text features when those aid comprehension.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student selects and explains accurate support for each idea. A heading, diagram, caption, or other feature clarifies organization or meaning.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may collect facts without development. They may add features decoratively or include irrelevant definitions.
How to Assess It
- Give a topic and source notes. Ask students to develop one section with varied evidence and one justified text feature.
