What Students Need to Do
- Students write narratives that recount real or imagined experiences or a short event sequence. They show what happened in an understandable order.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student establishes an event, sequences actions, adds relevant detail, and gives closure. Readers can follow the experience.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list unrelated actions or omit who, where, or what happened. They may end abruptly.
How to Assess It
- Give a three-picture sequence. Ask students to write a short narrative with ordered events and an ending.
