What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students build a cause-and-effect chain from Britain’s war debt to new land limits, taxes, and colonial protest. They explain how these policies affected Georgia and why Georgians did not all react alike.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can explain how each event affected land, trade, or politics in Georgia. The student also recognizes that Georgia’s response was divided, not immediately united for independence.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think the French and Indian War was fought only between France and Native Americans. They may confuse the Proclamation with a tax, or think the Stamp Act taxed only stamps. Some assume all Georgians opposed Britain from the start.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Complete three rows labeled war, Proclamation, and Stamp Act with one British action and one effect on Georgia. Then identify which caused the strongest protest and explain why.

Give groups event, British action, and Georgia effect cards to arrange into a cause-and-effect chain on chart paper.
