What Students Need to Do: Students explain why Jews, Salzburgers, Highland Scots, and Malcontents came to Georgia or challenged Trustee policies. They compare each group’s contributions and judge its impact on the colony.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students connect each group to accurate examples, such as Jewish medical aid, Salzburger farming, Highland Scot defense, and Malcontent protests. They support an evaluation with evidence.
Common Misconceptions: Students may treat Malcontents as an ethnic group or assume every group supported Trustee rules. They may also miss that Highland Scots opposed slavery while many Malcontents demanded it.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: Which group had the greatest impact on Trustee Georgia? Support your choice with two accurate facts and one comparison to another group.

Lesson moves
