- Students make clear, accurate comparisons using details from both texts. They explain how a character, setting, or event helps communicate each story’s central message.

- Students may retell each story separately instead of making direct comparisons. They may confuse a topic with a central message or make broad claims about a culture based on one story.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Name one similarity and one difference between the main characters in today’s two stories. Support each point with a specific story detail.
