What Mastery Looks Like: Students can describe how Cuban cigar workers shaped Ybor City or how Greek sponge divers shaped Tarpon Springs. They explain the contribution and its effect on Florida in their own words.
Common Misconceptions: Students may confuse immigrants from other countries with migrants who moved from another state. They may name a food or festival without explaining how it affected a Florida community or industry.
How to Assess It: Ask students to choose Cuban cigar workers or Greek sponge divers and write two sentences explaining their contribution and its effect on Florida.
