What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students record what they did and observed during an investigation. They use clear drawings, notes, tables, or simple graphs that match the kind of data collected.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students make accurate records with titles, labels, units, and values. Another student can use the record to understand the procedure, results, and changes observed.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may record only the final result or rely on memory after the investigation. They may omit labels, use uneven graph intervals, or draw pictures that do not show observations.
How to Assess It
- Have students test how many water drops fit on a penny for three trials. Ask them to submit a labeled data table and one observation.
