What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students use digital tools to draft, revise, publish, and update writing alone or with others. They add links, visuals, and flexible layouts that help readers find and understand information.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students create and publish clear digital work, then revise it after feedback or new evidence. They use working links, relevant visuals, headings, and shared editing tools to make information easier to understand.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may treat publishing as simply uploading a first draft or adding decorative images. They may insert links without checking the source, explaining its relevance, or setting correct sharing permissions.
How to Assess It
- Give students a short paragraph and two sources. Ask them to publish a revised version with one useful link, one visual, and a visible revision note.

Ways to Teach It
In pairs, students revise a shared document, add headings and a labeled chart, then use comments to explain two changes.
Ask students to explain in writing when a link, image, chart, or video helps a reader more than added text.
Run a source-link challenge where teams choose the best link for three claims and justify each choice in one sentence.
Students turn a lab result or historical claim into a short web page with evidence links, a visual, and an update log.
