What Students Need to Do
- Students find details that answer a question about one topic. They gather useful facts from pictures, short passages, interviews, or teacher-selected materials.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can name the topic and record two or more related facts. The student can point to the picture, text, or person that provided each fact.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may choose interesting details that do not match the topic. They may treat guesses or opinions as facts, or overlook information shown in pictures.
How to Assess It
- Give students a picture and short passage about frogs. Ask them to draw or write two frog facts and mark where each fact was found.
