- Students may treat Valley Forge as a battle or assume Saratoga ended the war. They may think Yorktown immediately created an independent nation, overlooking the peace negotiations and final treaty.
How to Assess It
- Give an exit ticket that asks: Choose Saratoga, Valley Forge, or Yorktown. What issue did Americans face there, and how did the outcome affect the war?
