What Students Need to Do
- Students explain the causes, choices, and consequences connected to major events of the Texas Revolution. They use sources and timelines to connect military events, political decisions, and the actions of diverse participants.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students can place the major events in order and explain how each affected the revolution. They can use evidence from Travis’s letter and participant accounts to describe motives, sacrifice, and historical significance.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think the Alamo defenders were all Anglo Americans or that every defender died during the final assault. They may also confuse Fannin’s surrender with the Goliad executions or treat San Jacinto as an isolated victory.
