- Students choose a calculation that fits a data set, such as finding a difference, average, ratio, or rate. They use the result to describe how two measured quantities are related.

- Students calculate accurately, label answers with units, and show their work. They use the calculated values to make a clear claim about a pattern or relationship in the data.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may choose an operation without considering what the question asks. They may drop units, average incorrectly, or describe a visual trend without supporting it with calculated values.
How to Assess It
- Give an exit ticket with water temperatures of 20°C, 26°C, and 32°C at 0, 2, and 4 minutes. Ask students to calculate the temperature change per minute and describe the relationship.
