- Students may treat every vowel as a separate syllable or split consonant blends and digraphs. They may also decode each syllable correctly but blend the full word incorrectly.
How to Assess It
- Give students establish, magnetic, reconsider, independent, and celebration. Have them mark syllable breaks and read each word aloud.
