What Students Need to Do
- Students plan and deliver a presentation that listeners can follow. They organize ideas and use eye contact, pace, volume, clear pronunciation, natural gestures, and correct language.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student gives a clear presentation with an opening, ordered points, and a closing. The student looks up, speaks clearly at an appropriate pace and volume, and uses gestures that fit the message.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think eye contact means staring at one person or scanning the room without pausing. They may speak too quickly, read every word, use forced gestures, or confuse loud speech with clear speech.
How to Assess It
- Ask each student to give a one-minute presentation about a favorite place with an opening, two details, and a closing. Check eye contact, pace, volume, clear speech, gestures, and language conventions.
