- Students choose verb forms that show whether an action happens now or already happened. They reread drafts and change verbs that do not match the time.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students use time words and verb forms that agree. They can change “Today I jump” to “Yesterday I jumped” and fix a mismatched verb in a draft.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may write, “Yesterday I walk,” because they keep the verb unchanged. They may add -ed to every verb and write words like “goed.” They may also switch time within one sentence.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Rewrite “Today I walk to school” to tell about yesterday. Circle the word you changed.
