Students explain why the sine of an acute angle equals the cosine of its complement. They use right-triangle side roles and apply the relationship to calculations.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student identifies complementary acute angles and shows that opposite-over-hypotenuse for one is adjacent-over-hypotenuse for the other. The student uses the identity to find a missing value.

Common Misconceptions

Students may pair sine and cosine of the same angle or use angles that do not sum to 90 degrees. They may switch the hypotenuse with a leg.
