Students use similarity to explain why right triangles sharing an acute angle have constant side ratios. They define sine, cosine, and tangent for acute angles from those ratios.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student identifies opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse sides relative to an angle and writes all three ratios. A similarity argument explains why triangle size does not change the values.
