What Students Need to Do
- Students use numerical summaries to draw conclusions about data. They select and compare appropriate measures of center, spread, position, or association while respecting the study context.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student cites specific summary values and writes a conclusion that matches them. The chosen statistics fit the distribution shape, variable type, and question.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list statistics without making a conclusion or compare means when outliers make medians more informative. They may ignore units and practical size.
How to Assess It
- Give two groups' numerical summaries and a contextual question. Ask students to choose relevant statistics and write one supported conclusion.
