What Students Need to Do
- Students use dialogue and description to develop narrative experiences and events. These techniques show how characters respond to situations and affect what happens next.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student selects dialogue and descriptive details that reveal character, conflict, or change. The scene moves forward because each technique serves the event.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may fill a scene with small talk or describe appearance without connecting it to the experience. They may state a response instead of showing it.
How to Assess It
- Give the situation, a team realizes its project is missing. Ask students to write a scene using dialogue and description to show two different responses.
