Common Misconceptions
- Students may confuse adjectives with adverbs or assume every adverb ends in “-ly.” They may pile on extra words that sound interesting but do not make the meaning clearer.
How to Assess It
- Give students the sentence “The bird landed.” Ask them to add one adjective and one adverb, then underline the words each one describes.
