What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students identify personal details that can expose someone to scams, account takeovers, or impersonation. They judge the risks of posts, profiles, quizzes, links, and app permissions, then choose safer actions.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can explain how a public birthday, location tag, pet name, or quiz answer could help someone steal an account. They can revise a risky post or setting to protect personal information.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think private accounts keep all information safe or that deleted posts disappear permanently. They may not recognize that quizzes, reused passwords, friend requests, and location tags can expose useful information.
How to Assess It
- Show a public birthday post with a location tag and a quiz asking for a pet's name. Ask students to identify three risks and write two safer choices.
