What Mastery Looks Like: The student solves 2 1/2 times 3/4 accurately and explains what the product means in context. The model, computation, units, and answer agree.
Common Misconceptions: Students may multiply whole-number parts separately from fraction parts. They may use an unrelated common-denominator procedure or omit units from the final answer.
How to Assess It: A recipe uses 2/3 cup of oats per batch. Ask how many cups are needed for 3 1/2 batches, requiring a model or equation and units.
