What Students Need to Do
- Students identify every quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides as a parallelogram. They include rectangles and squares instead of treating a slanted appearance as required.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student marks both pairs of opposite sides on a quadrilateral and names it a parallelogram. The student correctly explains that a rectangle and a square also meet this definition.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may name only slanted examples as parallelograms or exclude squares and rectangles. They may check one pair of parallel sides instead of confirming two pairs.
How to Assess It
