Students identify and apply relationships among radii, chords, tangents, and secants. They combine geometric facts with algebra to find lengths, angles, or prove relationships.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student selects the correct radius-chord, tangent-radius, or secant relationship and solves the resulting equation. Diagram labels and algebra both support the result.

Common Misconceptions

Students may assume every radius bisects every chord or forget that a radius to a tangent point is perpendicular. They may mix segment parts with whole secants.

How to Assess It

Give one circle diagram containing a tangent, radius, chord, and secant with an algebraic unknown. Ask students to solve and justify two relationships.
