What This Standard Means

What Students Need to Do

Students develop questions and join shared research or exploration to answer them and build and share knowledge. They contribute observations and findings.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student asks a question that can be explored, participates in investigation, and shares a relevant finding. The answer connects to the question.

Common Misconceptions

Students may ask preference questions or collect unrelated observations. They may let others investigate without contributing.

How to Assess It

Give a shared topic. Ask the student to pose one question, join a provided exploration, and share one answer through speech, drawing, or writing.
