What Students Need to Do
- Students plan and deliver a clear oral report or opinion with an opening, ordered points, and a closing. They choose precise vocabulary, accurate facts, and relevant details to support one main message.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student opens with a clear focus, presents ideas in a logical order, and closes by returning to the main point. The student uses accurate terms, facts, and descriptive details that directly support the message.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list facts without explaining how they support the main idea. They may use vague words, add unrelated details, or present points in no clear order.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to give a one-minute report about a class text using one central idea, two supporting facts, and two content-specific terms.
