What Students Need to Do
- Students perform rotations, reflections, and translations on figures and compare the images with the originals. They measure to verify which lengths, angles, and line relationships stay unchanged.

- A student uses tracing paper or geometry software to carry out a named transformation accurately. The student then uses measurements to verify preserved segment lengths, angle measures, and parallel lines.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may rotate around the wrong center, reflect across the wrong line, or translate in the wrong direction. They may trust appearance alone instead of measuring the image and original.
How to Assess It
- Give students a triangle, a center of rotation, and a 90-degree clockwise turn. Ask them to rotate it, then measure corresponding sides and angles to verify two properties.
